[History]
Public Organizations
On April 1, 2004 the reform of Associations and
Foundations (Societies) has been started-up in accordance with the Law
on Associations (Societies) and Foundations and the Law on the
procedures for coming into force of the law on Associations (Societies)
and Foundations. The reform foresees division of public organizations
registered in Latvia into Associations (Societies) and Foundations as
well as the procedure for re-registration of existing public
organizations into the register of Associations (Societies) and
Foundations.
The existing public
organizations and their associations must submit their applications
until December 31, 2005 in order to re-register into the new register,
otherwise the Register of enterprises will consider them as having
terminated their activities and will commence liquidation procedure of
such public organizations. Until registration into the register of
Associations (Societies) and Foundations, the public organizations and
their associations act in accordance with the existing Law on public
organizations and their associations. Amendments to the basic documents
of public organizations and their associations will be registered in
the Register of Enterprises only if the application form is submitted
till May 31, 2004 (if an application form is submitted after May 31,
2004, the public organization must simultaneously be re-registered into
the register of Associations (Societies) and Foundations).
