When submitting documents in paper format, it is necessary to certify the signatures on the application form KR5.

Signatures may be certified as follows:

• a sworn notary;
• in the Orphan's Court, after the declared place of residence (if the person has a personal identity number of the Republic of Latvia), if there is no notary in the county, county city or county parish;
• when signing documents with a secure electronic signature and time stamp. Where a document is to be signed by more than one person, it may be provided electronically only if all the signatories have electronic means.
