Registration of a foundation
1. Summary
An establishment shall acquire the status of a legal person from the moment when it has been entered in the Register of associations and foundations.
In the cases specified in the Law, an application for registration may be sent for inspection to the State Revenue Service. Read more about the assessment of applications received in the Enterprise Register at the State Revenue Service

* The statutory time limit for examining documents may be extended on the basis of Section 64, Paragraph two of the Administrative Procedure Law.
Documents to be submitted:
- application form B2;
- the decision on establishment;
- statutes;
- when establishing a will foundation, a true copy of a duly certified will, as well as documents certifying the powers of the trustee and entering into lawful effect of the will shall be appended not a decision regarding establishment, but a true copy of a duly certified will. If the will does not contain the necessary information in the decision to establish the foundation, the articles of association of the foundation to be founded have not been drawn up or members of the board of directors have not been appointed, the executor, heir or trustee of the will shall perform the relevant activities (drawing up of the articles of association, appointment of members of the board of directors);
- the written consent of the members of the Management Board for the holding of the office;
- if the foundation is founded by a foreign legal person, it is necessary to submit to the Enterprise Register a statement of the competent authority of the relevant state that such legal person exists and that the person who acts as the legal representative of such legal person (signs or authorises the person who signs) has the right to act on behalf of the legal person of the relevant foreign state;
- a questionnaire for inclusion of information in the Register of natural persons (to be signed by the foreigner himself or herself with a secure electronic signature in order to submit electronically; if there is no secure electronic signature, this document shall not be submitted) of a foreigner (foreigner) who has a legal link with Latvia on the basis of which mutual rights and obligations in the field of commercial activities and taxes are formed or have developed, but no personal identity number of the Republic of Latvia has been granted;
- if the application is submitted via postal services, information regarding payment of the State fee shall be appended (receipt or a copy thereof, or printout of an Internet bank payment or free text information).
